How we support children with SEND

We support children in a variety of ways, depending on their individual needs. This may include:

    • High-quality teaching adapted in the classroom
    • Small group or individual interventions
    • Support from trained teaching assistants
    • Personalised learning plans
    • Advice from external professionals (e.g. speech and language therapists, educational psychologists)

We follow a graduated approach of Assess – Plan – Do – Review to ensure support is effective and regularly monitored.

    How we identify needs

Children may be identified as having SEND through:

    • Ongoing teacher assessment
    • Discussions with parents
    • Information from previous settings
    • Specialist assessments where appropriate

We work closely with families throughout this process.

    Working with parents

We believe that strong partnerships with parents are essential. We will:

    • Keep you informed about your child’s progress
    • Involve you in planning support
    • Meet with you regularly to review progress
    External support

Where needed, we work with a range of external agencies, including:

    • Educational Psychology
    • Speech and Language Therapy
    • Occupational Therapy
    • Health professionals
