  • Relationships and Behaviour

Promoting positive relationships through shared values.

At Thames Ditton Infant School, our Relationships and Behaviour Policy is founded on a trauma-informed approach which recognises that behaviour is a form of communication and that wellbeing is everyone’s responsibility.

We know that children learn best when they feel safe, respected, and valued. Positive relationships between pupils, staff, families and the wider community are central to our ethos, and we actively promote an environment where these relationships can thrive.

Our policy is underpinned by the school values:

    • We are: honest, independent, resilient.

    • We show: kindness, respect, co-operation.

These values guide our daily practice and shape the culture of the school. We prioritise inclusion, equality and diversity, ensuring that every child feels a sense of belonging. Staff are trained in trauma-informed and restorative approaches, modelling positive interactions and supporting pupils to develop social and emotional skills, accountability, and empathy.

Through clear expectations, restorative conversations, and consistent support, we encourage children to take responsibility for their actions, learn from mistakes, and build the resilience needed for future success.
