Loving Learning and Growing Together

Curriculum Overview

"Learning to Learn, Learning for Life"

We are committed to ensuring our curriculum is inclusive, engaging and motivating for all pupils. We do this by using a range of topics across the year groups on different areas of the curriculum and allow children to explore a broad and balanced learning opportunities which promote independence, individual interests and diversity.

For all subjects taught in school, we have created Subject Curriculum Maps to share our vision and intent for the subject and to set out the progression of skills across the year groups from Development Matters and the National Curriculum expectations. The maps also identify how and where the subjects fit within our Year Group topics, how SMSC is embedded in the subject and enrichment opportunities for the children.

We use a range of high quality texts, including fiction and non-fiction, to support and enrich curriculum areas within our half-termly topics. 'Topic bookshelves' have been created to highlight chosen texts.

In addition to our core teaching, we provide a range of interventions for individuals and groups as required. These are tailored to the needs of the children and allow teaching staff to focus on specific areas. Interventions can include fine motor, speech and language, reading, writing, mathematics, social skills. These interventions can be used for pre-teaching, catch up sessions, extension or as part of children's Support Arrangement Plans.

Please contact the School Office if you have any questions or require further information on our curriculum. If you require a paper copy of any information on the school's website, please contact the School Office and we can provide this free of charge.
