Thames Ditton Infant School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Thames Ditton Infant School recognises our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils. We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support and protection. Child protection forms part of the school’s safeguarding responsibilities. This means that we have a Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and procedures in place. All staff (including supply staff , volunteers and governors) must ensure that they are aware of these procedures. The School’s Child Protection and Safeguarding policy is available on request and is available on the School website. Paper copies are available in the Safeguarding information section in the front entrance.
If you are concerned about a child’s welfare, please record your concern, and any observations or conversations heard, and report to Mrs R Hicks immediately or in absence to a Deputy DSL. Do NOT conduct your own investigation. If your concerns related to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that s/he is unsuitable to work with children) then you should report this to one of the DSLs in confidence, who will refer the matter to the Headteacher. If your concern is related to the behaviour of the headteacher (which could suggest that she is unsuitable to work with children) then you should contact the one of the co-chairs of Governors.
Co-chairs of the Governoring Body for Thames Ditton Infant School are:-
Mr R Ascough and Mrs Fiander-Derry
